Wilshire United Methodist Church has been the site of thousands of beautiful and sacred ceremonies over the years. We are located in Hancock Park, next to the Ebell Theatre on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The Romanesque Gothic architecture of our church facility was crafted in 1924. The city of Los Angeles has designated Wilshire as an historical cultural monument. Your guests will be delighted to view the stained glass windows and hand-stenciled ceiling requiring 10,000 man hours to complete. Our spectacular pipe organ further accentuates the traditional church atmosphere.
The main sanctuary at Wilshire is air conditioned and seats from 150 to more than 500 guests.
The church parking lot adjacent to our building accommodates over 100 vehicles. A secondary parking lot can usually be booked to further meet your needs. As part of your wedding package, a security guard/ parking attendant will be on duty during the ceremony and reception.
The wrought iron chandeliers and theatrical spotlights are all dimmer controlled. Our sound system had been recently ungraded and is digitally compatible. There is a wireless microphone available for the officiant and music can be played through our audio system.
Tables in the front lobby (narthex) may be used to display your guest book. There is ample room for your family and wedding party to welcome your guests.
Brides and their bridal party meet in the dressing room next to the main sanctuary. This bridal room is air conditioned, with an abundance of dressing tables, mirrors and a locked storage area for valuables. This room has its own oversized restroom.
Couples have used the grassy area along the Plymouth Blvd. side of our church building for outdoor photos, with the Wilshire bell tower as an impressive background. Wedding photos are also frequently planned utilizing the magnificient front entrance.
Ritter Chapel may be booked for weddings of fewer than 100 guests. The chapel has a center aisle and stained glass windows, with an organ and piano. Up to three bridesmaids and groomsmen can be accommodated. Weddings in the Ritter chapel may be scheduled for 2 pm, butusually without a Wilshire reception.
